Summary: Written for This Prompt: In a world where the British Empire is still strong and slavery is her economic backbone, John has become a terrorist for the abolitionist movement. He is caught by Mycroft, enslaved, and given to Sherlock for training. The goal: To test a new kind of slave collar with the power to break even the strongest willed fighter. One that will make even John learn to love being a slave.


I spent the weekend reading this fanfic and it is excellent. It has a good style, is suspenseful, and what I love about it, is that it really makes the world feel real.
Of course, what I hate about it is that it really makes the world feel real.

I don't want to live in a world where slavery is real. History lessons are scary enough for me. I don't want to think of a conditioning device that makes you feel pleasure for obeying a command. I was freaked out watching Ella Enchanted!

And so John and Sherlock learn to feel for each other. How much of it is real when one is a captive and the other a slave owner? What kind of feeling is it when Sherlock has no intention of ever allowing John to be free.

This world dug into me. It hurt! It hurt! It hurt!
