Snowflake Challenge #2 - PETS!

When I first heard this challenge I considered posting photos of my pets, but I don't ever put them in cute fandom costumes. They wouldn't dare let me. So I tried to consider the most impactful pets in fiction and fandom and put them in a list. It is sort of strange but well.

MEOWTH
Meowth is the talking cat that helps out team Rocket in Pokemon. It is questionable whether he can be called a pet, since Meowth is an intellegent part of the team and it on equal footing with James and Jessie. But, they do have those shady scenes with the unnamed boss that directs them to do their evil work, and he has a cat that looks like a pet, and is surely senior to Meowth so... I do not have all the Pokemon lore, but Meowth is definitely a fandom character of note.

OLD YELLER
This Disney movie totally slaughtered me as a kid, and I never quite got over it. It is similar in some ways as Dog of Flanders, but I didn't see that one until I was older, so this is my youthful Dog trauma. Yeller was an old dog, but a good dog. He loved his boy, and he always helped with the huntin' but America is a place where those who are not useful can be gotten rid of. The unfairness of it never quite left me.

TOBY - Molly's cat from Sherlock
As a fan of Sherlock from just before the start of Season 2, I was there when the advertising team made fake websites to publicize the show. One of the side characters, Molly, was a forensic scientist with a crush on Sherlock Holmes. Here website talked about how she attempted to get the attention of her crush, Sherlock, but he brushed her off, so she decided to become a "cat lady". The site then uploaded a photo of a kitten that she said she had named TOBY and thus a new Fandom character was born. Toby never made an appearance on the show, but since this was put out by the team, she is considered canon.

As a youth, I read the Dragon books by Anne McCaffrey and enjoyed them a lot. I especially liked the books Dragon Song, Dragon Singer, and Dragon Drums in the masterharper of pern trilogy. The fact that Menolly had Seven dragons (fire lizards)  was a beautiful touch, and so they may be my favorite fandom pets.

In my humble opinion, Meowth is a Silly Little Guy, which is a category that overlaps with Pet.

Between Old Yeller and Where the Red Fern Grows, I got the Animal Trauma of a lifetime before I was 10. 😭😭😭

Meowth helps team Rocket? Sounds so cool! I only play Pokemon Go (and only ever played one of the original Pokemon games, Pokemon Green) so I'm pretty much unfamiliar with the canon lore. In PoGo, Meowth is just one of hundreds of Pokemon to catch. And Team Rocket boss Giovanni has Persian as a pet, it's Meowth's evolution.

I like all cat-based Pokemon of course, my favourite is Litten.

Meowth is iconic. One of the best parts of the Pokemon anime and he is a pet, though he'd probably say otherwise and insist Jessie and James are the pets.
