I started writing FanFiction in the summer of 2012. When I read that early stuff, I see the typos staring up at me. I went to a lecture by a professional writer who talked about the importance of good readers. I found out that having a "Beta Reader" to read work before publication was a fanfiction tradition and began to look for one.

At first I just cold emailed readers and asked for suggestions. I got a work Beta'd and it was great, but my beta was young and I did not feel comfortable asking her to beta M work. Later, I found a community of older women who could help me, but I don't like to ask people to beta things that they don't ship.

Recently, I got an account at Archive of Our Own and there is no personal messaging or other ways to contact people. Not that I know of at least. I assumed that people communicate with each other using other sites, so I decided to ask here. Is there anyone out there who could beta my M work on AO3, or do you know someone that I can ask about this?

The works in question are in the Starcrossed trilogy: Moving, Damaged, and the soon to be released, Runaway.

I appreciate any help or explanations about proper process if I am going about it the wrong way. Details on the work follow. Thanks for listening.

There is a Sherlock fandom specific art form called the 221B Drabble.
It has exactly 221 words, with the last one beginning with B.

I like them because they are short, and yet can include so much story and emotion.
Even if you are hesitant about entering a new fandom, don't fear these little story jewels.

I'm going to start showcasing a few 221B's here from time to time.

Three today.

1. Denouement by thedragonaunt

A little story about waiting for someone that you care about.

2. Alpha and Omega by John'sarmylady

A series of short and beautiful 221B's all unique.

3. The stranger and other drabbles by Alessnox
Three stories by me. One sci-fi, one emotional, and one humorous.
