I loved this story in its original form but it's reworking as a podfic is even more haunting. The story really lends itself to be read aloud, and how great it is to hear the author reading her own work. The plot is very clever, and though it follows some of the characters and does not stray from canon, it goes in its own direction and visits a darker place, that is only hinted at by the BBC. The invention and characterisation of Weasel Bean is masterly, he is believable even when you don't want to believe that such a cruel villain could exist in the Sherlockian world. The music chosen and the pacing of the reading take the reader on a chilling journey. This is A* writing, now in an alternative medium that rises it still further. I'm now a convert to podfic.
