When films read like fanfics

Just watched Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, and they had history that I just didn't know.

To think that Lincoln started his political career and his fight against slavery as a bid to destroy the hold of a vampire empire in the south.

*smile*

the truth is that the movie read like a fanfic.It makes me wonder about the place of fanfic in mainstream culture.

ALVH can be classed as a real-person AU Vampire work. We in the fan community often think of our works as the bastard child of fiction sitting on the edge of respectable works, but then I see a perfect B-movie like this and I know that there is hope that one day even my humble fan works might be seen by a wider audience.


Then again...would that be a good thing?

Back in time and Amplificathon

Here I am, returned to the month of March.
Now it's time to announce my plans which may or may not succeed.
After reading the rules for Amplifacathon, I have forgone trying to come out with a recording of my John/Lock story Moving in preference to my crossover story Molly in Wonderland .

My problem being that I abandoned the story and never finished it.

And so, I am planning to write the ending to the story this week, record it, and upload it.

221B's are great reading

There is a Sherlock fandom specific art form called the 221B Drabble.
It has exactly 221 words, with the last one beginning with B.

I like them because they are short, and yet can include so much story and emotion.
Even if you are hesitant about entering a new fandom, don't fear these little story jewels.

I'm going to start showcasing a few 221B's here from time to time.

When you are lost

What do you do when you are lost?

I was revising a story, rewriting it really.
The problem was that it was poorly received.
Comments said, he is out of character, and so I changed things so that he would be more in character.

But somewhere I lost my way.

And I'm standing in a field, with a character I like, but the way he wants to go is not cannon.

Either I somehow make you believe that this is where the character will go,
Or I go where I think the character is expected to go.

But I don't know. Somehow the character is lost.

I suppose love is the only answer. Make the story you love and the comments don't matter, because you love it.
