When films read like fanfics
Mar. 9th, 2013 02:50 pmJust watched Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, and they had history that I just didn't know.
To think that Lincoln started his political career and his fight against slavery as a bid to destroy the hold of a vampire empire in the south.
*smile*
the truth is that the movie read like a fanfic. It makes me wonder about the place of fanfic in mainstream culture.
ALVH can be classed as a real-person AU Vampire work. We in the fan community often think of our works as the bastard child of fiction sitting on the edge of respectable works, but then I see a perfect B-movie like this and I know that there is hope that one day even my humble fan works might be seen by a wider audience.
Then again...would that be a good thing?
